About me
I am a compassionate and experienced mental health therapist who helps individuals and families heal from anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions using a holistic and culturally responsive approach.
Are you feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected from your sense of self? Do anxiety, depression, unresolved trauma, or relationship challenges make it hard to enjoy your life or connect with others? If so, you're not alone—and you don’t have to go through it alone.
My name is Hussein Dayow Idow, and I am a Clinical Social Work Associate (CSWA) with over 17 years of experience in the mental health and human services field. I specialize in working with individuals facing anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, identity concerns, anger, and relationship stress. I am deeply committed to supporting clients from all walks of life, including immigrants, BIPOC individuals, men working to redefine masculinity, and those navigating faith and cultural transitions.
My therapeutic approach is holistic, client-centered, and trauma-informed. I draw from evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based practices. Therapy with me is collaborative and personalized—we will identify the root causes of your challenges and develop tools that empower you to heal, grow, and reclaim your life.
I create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients can explore their thoughts and emotions, strengthen self-awareness, and move toward lasting change. I believe therapy is not just about managing symptoms, but about transforming how we relate to ourselves and others.
I offer therapy both in-person in Portland and Beaverton, Oregon, and online throughout Oregon via secure telehealth. I also provide evening and weekend appointments to meet your schedule.
Whether you're experiencing distress for the first time or have been coping silently for years, reaching out for support is a brave first step. I would be honored to walk with you on your journey to healing, clarity, and wholeness.
