About me
Hi, I’m Holly Young (LCMHC), a licensed therapist based in Asheville, NC. I work with adults of all ages, focusing on stress, burnout, anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, trauma, and LGBTQ+ issues. My approach is authentic, adaptable, and deeply compassionate — therapy with me is collaborative, down-to-earth, and built around what feels right for you.
I earned my BA in Sociology from UNCA and my MA in Counseling from Wake Forest. I also spent nearly a decade working with folks with disabilities, especially those on the autism spectrum. That work, along with my own experiences as a queer, disabled, neurodivergent person, drives my passion for creating safe, affirming spaces for healing and self-discovery.
Also, I’m a Hufflepuff/Ravenclaw, an Aries-Aquarius cusp, and someone who believes therapy should be as approachable as it is meaningful.
This is a SAFE space — for everyone.
My approach is person-centered, collaborative, and grounded in compassion. I see therapy as a sacred, judgment-free space to share stories, build skills, and interrupt loneliness. I tailor methods to your needs and interests, drawing from a range of modalities including Narrative Therapy, Existential Therapy, ACT, Mindfulness, Psychoeducation, and Art Therapy. At the core, I believe in meeting people where they are — with honesty, empathy, and curiosity.
Our first step is a free 15-minute consultation to see if we’re a good fit. If we move forward, the first full session focuses on creating your Treatment Plan and assessments. From there, sessions offer practical tools, fresh perspectives, and a compassionate space to pause and reflect without judgment. We’ll check in, explore what’s on your mind—whether through talking, drawing, or other creative methods—and use tailored activities and psychoeducation to support your growth.
