About me
Bilingual (English/Spanish) therapist for first-generation adults and teens in California. Heidy Milena Davila, AMFT, helps clients navigate anxiety, burnout, and people-pleasing via telehealth and in-person in Los Angeles.
You're the one who holds everything together. You show up for your family, manage more than your share, and keep going because that's what you've always done. But underneath all that responsibility, there's a version of you that's exhausted. Anxious. Maybe a little resentful, and then guilty for feeling that way. Unsure of who you are outside of what everyone needs from you.
You don't feel like you're in crisis. You just feel like you've been running on empty for a long time. That's exactly who I work with.
Many of my clients are high-functioning on the outside and struggling privately. They're not broken; they're tired. Tired of overthinking everything, of feeling responsible for everyone's emotions, of doing all the right things and still feeling disconnected from themselves. Most of what brings people into therapy once made complete sense. My job isn't to pathologize your patterns; it's to help you understand where they came from and decide together what you want to do differently.
I'm a bilingual (English/Spanish) Associate MFT and First-Generation Latina raised in a Guatemalan immigrant household in Los Angeles. I didn't learn about family pressure, cultural guilt, or living between two worlds from a textbook; I lived it. I know what it's like to love your family deeply and still feel suffocated by their expectations. My clients don't have to spend the first twenty minutes of a session explaining their family dynamics before the real conversation can begin. I already understand.
My approach is warm, direct, and gets underneath the surface. I draw from psychodynamic therapy, attachment theory, somatic awareness, and IFS-informed methods. I don't do toxic positivity or quick fixes. We look at where your patterns began, why they once made sense, and how to build enough space between the feeling and the reaction that you can start making choices that actually feel like yours.
I offer therapy in English and Spanish via telehealth throughout California. A free 15-minute consultation is available. You don't have to have it all figured out before you reach out. That's what the call is for.
