About me
Philosophy: I believe that every individual has the capacity for growth and change. My goal is to provide a safe and supportive space for clients to explore their inner selves and overcome personal challenges.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and over 14 years of comprehensive clinical experience. I work with tweens and teens, young adults and adults. I also with divorced and single parents, blended families and see people of every race, ethnicity, and sexual orientation. I have a particular passion and expertise for working with teenagers as they struggle to define their identities, cope with the rapid physical, emotional and psychological changes that take place within them and adjust to the demands of peers, schools, families and society. I am eclectic in my orientation and offer a holistic, integrative approach to client-centered therapy, using traditional psychodynamic and family systems work, Cognitive Behavioral Techniques (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) amongst other treatment approaches. I enjoy infusing the process with creativity, imagination and humor, along with practical solutions and concrete goals.
I have a particular passion and expertise for working with teenagers as they struggle to define their identities, cope with the rapid physical, emotional and psychological changes that take place within them and adjust to the demands of peers, schools, families and society. When seeing Teenagers, I tend to work collaboratively with parents, the family, school counselors, pediatricians and others to provide an optimum level of care. I incorporate a varying amount of family work when seeing adolescents as I find this to be a powerful medium for lasting change.
I provide a non-judgmental and compassionate atmosphere in which you can safely explore and work through feelings, thoughts, images and beliefs, conscious or unconscious, that may be keeping you stuck. I also work collaboratively with physicians, psychiatrists, nutritionists and educators to assist in providing optimum results.
