About me
Are you tired of searching for a therapist? Well, your search ends here. My name is Gwen, and I have been a clinical therapist for over 15 years. I specialize in trauma, depression and anxiety. Every person is different, therefore, I like to use a customized approach that caters specifically to each client. I like to use various techniques, theories and modalities that are backed by sound research and provide high validity and reliability. I like to use approaches that step outside the box and empower the client to make decisions. The goal is to return the client to optimal functioning. I hope to start our journey together soon. I have a very flexible schedule which mornings, afternoons and evenings. I work Monday through Sunday. I will make sure you get your day and time preferences.
I can help depending on what your wants and needs are for therapy. I have clients seeking just talk therapy and others who want assignments and actively working on goals. I have been trained in cognitive processing therapy or CPT for trauma clients. I also use CBT, REBT, DBT, person-centered, behavioral, psychodynamic, reality, mindfulness, and many others.
I consider myself caring, patient, and a good listener. I am responsible, reliable, and open-minded. Most of my clients are regulars and have been with me for a long time. Before I went into private practice, most of my work was with trauma clients consisting of domestic violence, sexual violence & loss. I provide a safe space for you to talk about issues.
All clients are different, therefore, I think it is important to customize my approach, in terms of theory and techniques, that cater specifically to the client. I consider myself to be quite eclectic and I like to step outside the box so that my clients receive a good counseling experience. My goal is to get the client back to optimal functioning. I like to use techniques that are backed by sound research and measurable. I like to utilize approaches that empower the client to make decisions and take control over their lives.
I have over 15 years of experience in individual, couples, family and group therapy. My specialties include domestic violence, sexual violence, bereavement and other traumas. I am New Jersey State certified in domestic violence and sexual violence.
Since the pandemic, there have been increased challenges to the general public as we are adjusting to constant changes. More people are suffering from depression and anxiety than ever before. I encourage clients to seek professional help. Clients can typically see a difference in the first session.
