About me
I have over 6 years of experience in the field and am licensed in both PA & OR. I started Balancing Perspectives Practice in 2024 and have been offering my services directly to young adult/professional, trans/non-binary & queer, caregiver, and front-line worker communities since then.
Are you new to therapy, have you tried it before without finding the right fit, or perhaps you are looking for a new approach? My name is Gus Culbertson (he/him/his) and I am a Clinical Social Worker. I started Balancing Perspectives Practice because I believe that when you take an intentional look at the perspectives you hold about yourself and the world around you, then make this into a practice, it can allow you to lean into your most authentic and balanced self.
I am here to support you in finding a good fit therapist. I have worked for a number of years to understand the unique challenges faced by young adults, medical and health science students & professionals, and front-line workers. I also work with individuals navigating life transitions, unhelpful self-expectations, procrastination, grief, depression, anxiety and identity struggles. Many of those I work with want to learn how to engage intentionally with the range of emotions, communicate effectively with others, decrease stress, incorporate mindful/spiritual practices and explore differing perspectives. I am a firm believer in the power of the therapeutic relationship as a catalyst for change. My approach is tailored to you and is rooted in a values-based, emotion-focused, and mindful practice. If you are ready to begin this journey, please contact me for a free consultation.
I initially work with clients to outline your goals in care to see if we might be a good fit to work together in individual therapy. If we are, I look forward to working together to help you recognize your strengths, build resilience, and cultivate authenticity to find the fulfillment you deserve. If, for whatever reason we are not, I can support you in finding the right fit through my services as a care manager. This is of note if you would like assistance in finding a therapist who is in-network with your insurance.
My services as a care manager can also support enrolling in insurance, connecting to varying levels of care, navigating health systems/health equity, and locating resources that support holistic wellness.
Please also let me know if you are interested in plant medicine/integrative work. I have studied, and engaged with, psilocybin-assisted practices for over a decade and am passionate about exploring alternative pathways for wellbeing.
