About me
I am a licensed clinical therapist that specializes in treating individuals who have experienced early childhood adversities resulting in complex post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), dissociative identity disorder (DID), and other related problems including depression, addictions, and anxiety.
My passion for this field developed early on in my career as a missionary pastor as I saw the immense impact that early childhood trauma can have on a person's mental health and well-being. As a former North Carolina Paramedic for 10 years, and serving as a flight medic in the NC Air National Guard, I saw my share of various types of traumas. Later, as a missionary pastoral counselor living in Germany and ministering to US Military stationed there, I learned about the long term impact trauma can have on a person's life.
I believe that everyone has the potential for healing and growth, and it is my goal to provide a safe and supportive environment where clients can work through their trauma and reclaim their lives. I have extensive experience working with clients who have experienced a range of traumatic experiences, including physical and emotional abuse, neglect, sexual assault and structured mind control techniques. I use a trauma-informed approach to therapy, which means that I am sensitive to the unique needs and experiences of my clients and work collaboratively with them to develop a treatment plan that meets their specific needs.
My approach to therapy is grounded in evidence-based practices, including: Psychodynamic/Supportive psychotherapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapies, Narrative Therapy, Hypnotherapy, and the Primary Identity Approach for resolving DID. I am also trained in Hypnotherapy and EMDR, which helps clients retrieve and reprocess suppressed and dissociated traumas. I believe that the therapeutic relationship is the foundation of successful therapy, and I strive to create a warm, empathic, and non-judgmental environment where clients feel heard, understood, and supported. My ultimate goal is to empower my clients to reclaim their lives and live a fulfilling and meaningful life no matter what past experiences they have lived through and survived.
