I am an experienced licensed therapist who is dedicated and passionate about helping individuals, particularly adolescents and young adults to cope with life stressors, anxiety, depression, as well as an array of other mental health issues.

Hello, my name is Ethan Messer, I am a licensed marriage & family therapist with 25 years of experience working in an array of settings within the mental health field. I have worked with clients in such settings as youth groups, YMCA after school & summer programs, adolescent group homes, adult crisis homes, faith-based transitional living programs, Long Term Psychiatric Residential Facilities, as well as working in private practice.

I specialize in working with teens and young adults, but I have worked with clients of all ages regarding a wide range of concerns, including: depression, anxiety, communication and intimacy issues, social anxiety, self-harm/suicidal ideation, general relationship challenges (couples,family, friends & co-workers), stress management and parenting/ family issues.

As a therapist, I am warm, relational, respectful and engaged with my clients. I truly do love walking with others through their trials, their pain and their joy. It is humbling and an honor to be entrusted with the hearts of others and to be involved in the lives of others. This is a reality that I am constantly aware of as I continue meeting with others in therapy.

My approach to therapy is relational, and combines cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), client centered, solution-focused and emotionally-focused therapy. I work collaboratively with clients during sessions in order to build a strong therapeutic alliance, to create treatment plans, establish treatment goals, and provide a free-flowing dialogue that will most accurately and effectively meet their specific needs.
