About me
I'm a therapist who works with adults and couples who are tired of holding it all together. The ones who look fine from the outside and are running on empty underneath.
You look like you have it together. Underneath that, you're tired. Tired of being the reliable one, of managing everyone else's feelings, of pushing through weeks that weren't even hard. Maybe you can see the pattern clearly and still can't seem to stop running it.
Most of my clients are high-functioning and hard on themselves. They show up for everyone else. They apologize a lot. They can name exactly what they're doing wrong and still find themselves doing it again next week. Somewhere along the way they learned that being easy to be around was safer than being honest, and now they're exhausted from the performance.
My approach is attachment-based and body-focused, which means we pay attention to what's happening physically and not just what you're thinking. That's usually where the honest information is. The tight chest before a hard conversation, the wired and tired feeling after a day that was objectively fine. That isn't overthinking. That's your body telling you something your brain hasn't caught up to yet.
Most of us learned to override that. Push through, stay useful, don't make it weird. So the signal gets quieter, not because it stopped, but because we stopped listening. A lot of what we do together is slowing down enough to hear it again, figuring out where those patterns came from, and working out what it actually takes to do something different.
I'm not going to treat you like a problem to solve. Most of what people dislike about themselves, the people-pleasing, the shutting down, the need to have it all together, made sense once. It kept them safe, or loved, or out of trouble. The issue isn't that it was wrong then. It's that it's still running the show now, in a life that doesn't require it.
