About me
Hello! My name is Erin Gaal . I am clinically licensed (LMHC) and have a doctorate in Counseling Psychology and have 30+ years experience! I have been fortunate to work in a variety of job settings to include social service agencies, methadone clinics, schools, prisons & on military installations overseas. In my experience, we are all more alike than different, we all struggle with common issues, and we all desire similar things in life. I try to live every day as a positive force in a stressed-out world, helping where I can and attempting to brighten the day of whomever I encounter.
I love working with adolescents, adults, military veterans and our older population as well as couples and families! The best moments are when my clients have met their goals, begin their journey toward successful futures, and "fire me!" My specialty areas include trauma processing, addiction recovery and family systems. Unfortunately, addictions are here to stay. I became a Certified Addictions Professional in 2001. Almost everyone struggles with a substantive or behavioral addiction or knows someone who does. I love being a conduit to recovery. Being affilliated with the military for almost 2 decades, I understand first-hand the trials and tribulations of the military life, especially in these uncertain times. Deployments and separations are difficult on both the military member and all family members! By serving military members and their families, it is my way of serving and giving back to the men and women who protect our nation. Bowen family systems was my first love. It is a holistic approach with a multi-generation approach, recognizing that family members are emotional units who are interconnected and influential. By individual exploration, looking at us as a part of a much larger system, we can fully appreciate who we are by understanding previous generations and all the factors that shaped us. The focus on differentiation of self, communication triangles, & birth order, helps us break automatic patterns.
