About me
I am an experienced art therapist and counselor who is dedicated to helping young adults cope with neurodivergence, adversity, anxiety, and depression. You likely have good reasons for feeling angry at or afraid of the world, the people around you, or maybe even yourself, but are you ready to confront the blocks that are keeping you stuck? Sometimes we get stuck in a cycle of avoidance and/ or ambivalence because that's how we've learned to survive. Living in survival mode is exhausting and when the stress of being alive feels like too much to carry and we don't give our emotions the attention they need, they may start to feel "out of control". Emily believes that artistic exploration and expression in art therapy can help people understand their emotional conflicts, reduce stress and anxiety, and can provide the tools and skills necessary to aid in the restoration of healthy functioning.
Hi!
I'm Emily and I'm not your typical therapist. I'm an artist from the Baltimore and Carroll County area who provides virtual art therapy for young adults seeking treatment for anxiety, depression, and/or neurodivergence. I have Master's level training in art psychotherapy and traditional talk therapy and I have experience working with diverse populations through community-based and outpatient services. I am the owner and founder of Dark Waters Art Therapy, where our values include providing personalized care for your unique individual needs. Art therapy can provide you with the opportunity for creative self-exploration, self-expression, and self-discovery.
