About me
Bilingual online therapy offering trauma-responsive care
Hi, I'm Liz. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) in Illinois. I've been in the mental health field for over 7 years, and have experience working in various mental health settings, including substance use and DUI counseling, police dept. social services, outpatient community mental health, and now have my own private practice- Aliento PLLC. I founded Aliento because I believe healing begins with the most basic yet essential life forces: el aliento- the breath.
I'm bilingual (Spanish-speaking), Chicana (Mexican born in the USA), and a daughter and wife of immigrants. I am also a mother of 3 great kids; my oldest is almost off to college and the other 2 under 10 years old. I have personal experience with the complexities of co-parenting and blended families. I share these identities and experiences with you because they inform my worldview and perspective, just like your own identities and experiences inform yours. I am deeply drawn to the work of self-exploration and I embrace it with curiosity- and that is what I bring to our therapeutic space. I'll invite you to become curious about yourself, your identities, your relationships (including ours), and your experiences. This work is personal to me- and always professional, ethical, and centered on you.
