About me
"Mental Health is not a destination but a process. It's about how you drive, not where you are going." - Noah Shpancer
My name is Elizabel, and I'm a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Illinois and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Indiana. I'm a very emphatic, creative, resourceful, honest, tolerant, and dedicated professional to enhance your mental health. My educational background includes a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras Campus. Currently, I'm working towards the completion of my Ph.D. in General Psychology. My experience in the counseling field dates to 2012 working with children and adolescents in the outpatient setting. I enjoy using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Rational Behavior Therapy, Cognitive coaching, art, & music as part of therapy interventions. In my sessions, to help you get better outcomes, I define myself as having a multiple-theory approach. I enjoy working with young adults and adults. I have experience working with immigrants, substance abuse, and risk youth in my home country and Illinois. I have experience working in outpatient settings, school-based programs, and group therapy using structured psychotherapy for adolescents responding to chronic stress (SPARCS) to enhance their well-being.
