About me
Edwin Hannah MRE, LCSW, CCTP, CIMHP
Edwin is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker trained in CBT, TF-CBT, and DBT. Ed has found his passion in working with the field of ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences) and Trauma. Edwin works with ages from children to the elder. Edwin holds certifications as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional.
Ed has always enjoyed working with people in individual or group settings. After graduating from seminary in 2013 with a Master of Religious Education (MRE), he decided to pursue his passion for supporting those who have experienced trauma. Pursuing this dream, he graduated from Florida State University with a Master of Social Work (MSW) in 2019.
Ed has a vast set of experiences in the helping field, spanning over three decades. He has supervised group homes for the intellectually disabled, volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America, led church youth groups, and sponsored teen drug prevention programs. Ed served for more than 20 years in the United States Coast Guard and retired with an honorable discharge as a Chief Aviation Survival Technician and Helicopter Rescue Swimmer. Ed has been a lay and ordained pastor in local churches since 2005.
Ed approaches his role as a clinical social worker with humility and understanding that regardless of a person’s status or background, trauma affects each person uniquely. Ed ensures that the client is heard and validates their experience because it is hard enough to come to a session without fear of judgment or shame. Ed works from the client's perspective, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as his primary model, and values feedback from the client. Although Ed can provide therapeutic services from a Christian perspective, it is not required or suggested unless the client desires such services. Ed has helped people from all walks of life and faith groups.
Lastly, Ed has had a unique opportunity to work within Clay County Schools in Florida to provide the Cognitive Behavioral Interventions for Trauma in Schools (CBITS) Program from 2018-2022. As a leadership team member and a licensed clinical social worker, Ed sees clients at the Knight Boxx office in all age groups.
