About me

My name is Edinson, I am an experienced counsellor who works with both individuals and couples, offering a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space to explore emotional, psychological, and relational difficulties. My clinical experience includes working with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, stress, trauma, bereavement, loss, relationship difficulties, and identity-related issues. I have significant experience supporting clients who have been sexually abused, both as children and as adults, and work sensitively with the long-term emotional, relational, and psychological impact of these experiences. My approach is trauma-informed and paced carefully, prioritising safety, choice, and empowerment. I also support clients navigating life transitions, work-related pressures, and long-standing emotional patterns, helping individuals develop greater self-awareness, emotional regulation, and resilience.

My therapeutic approach is integrative and client-centred, with particular experience in working with couples using Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT). EFT is an evidence-based, attachment-informed model that supports couples to understand and change negative interaction cycles, strengthen emotional bonds, and create greater safety and connection within their relationship. Alongside EFT, I draw on relational, psychodynamic, attachment-informed, and mindfulness-based approaches to tailor therapy to each individual or couple’s needs. I place strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship, working collaboratively to build trust and provide a consistent, supportive environment in which meaningful and lasting change can occur.

I also has experience working with addiction and addictive behaviours, including alcohol and drug misuse, as well as co-dependency. My work may include supporting clients affected by food, gambling, internet, sex, smoking, and work-related addictions, either directly or through the impact of a loved one’s addiction. I understand addiction within a wider emotional and relational context, recognising links with trauma, attachment difficulties, shame, and self-worth. Whether working with individuals or couples, I offer a compassionate, thoughtful, and professional therapeutic service, supporting clients to build insight, strengthen relationships, and move towards greater emotional wellbeing.
