Dr. Deema Sihweil
Licensed Clinical Psychotherapist
Online & In-Person
About me
With over 20 years of international experience, I am a licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in working with individuals, couples and families who suffer from a wide range of serious psychological disorders, expatriate living, and complex relationship dynamics.
I am an Arab-American Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years of experience, shaped by a rich cross-cultural journey across Europe, the United States, and the Middle East. Licensed in Washington D.C. and Dubai, UAE, I offer both online and in-person therapy to a global clientele.
Grounded in classical psychodynamic training, my approach emphasizes ethical integrity, trauma-informed care, and cultural competence. I provide evidence-based psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families, working extensively with diverse populations—including local and expatriate communities, BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ clients. I also support individuals affected by natural disasters, war, and cross-cultural conflict, and consult with both local and international humanitarian organizations on crisis response and psychosocial recovery.
My clinical work addresses a broad range of concerns, including expatriate adjustment, relational conflict, intimacy and communication challenges, trauma, mood and anxiety disorders, substance use, and major life transitions. I offer pre-marital, marital, pre-divorce, and post-divorce counseling with a particular focus on parenting plans, separation agreements, and family mediation. As a Certified Treating Clinician in Narcissistic Abuse and Antagonistic Relational Stress, I help individuals navigate relational abuse and conflict, prioritizing emotional safety and family well-being throughout high-conflict resolution processes.
In addition to clinical work, and with advanced training and certification from Fluence International, I have developed expertise in emerging psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy modalities. I provide harm reduction, preparation, and integration support for individuals engaging with non-ordinary states of consciousness. By integrating psychodynamic methods with a bio-psycho-socio-cultural lens, I help clients process transformative experiences safely, while honoring indigenous and cultural frameworks aligned with their personal values.
