About me
I am a licensed clinical psychologist providing private pay psychological care for high profile and high performing clients, including executives, entrepreneurs, creatives, and public figures. With specialized training in trauma informed care, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Somatic Experiencing, and mindfulness based CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), I help clients work through trauma, manage the pressure that comes with stress and responsibility, and build lives that feel as strong on the inside as they look on the outside. I also offer psychological assessments for ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder).
I am Dr. Christina Cortez, a licensed clinical psychologist (PsyD, which stands for Doctor of Psychology) with a private practice in Santa Barbara. I work with executives, entrepreneurs, creatives, and high functioning figures who carry a great deal of responsibility, stress, and pressure, and who want a psychologist with real clinical depth to match the demands of their lives.
As a private pay practice, I do not bill insurance, which means your care is shaped by your goals rather than by an insurer's requirements. Scheduling is flexible, and the work stays focused on what you came for.
My clinical work is grounded in trauma informed care, moving at a pace that feels safe and never pushing you further than you are ready to go. Depending on your needs, I may draw on EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a structured therapy that helps the brain process painful memories so they lose their intensity. I may also use Somatic Experiencing, which works with the body's natural responses to stress and trauma, and mindfulness based CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), which builds practical skills for working with difficult thoughts and emotions.
I also offer psychological assessments for ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), for adults and families who want clear answers delivered with care and professionalism. I offer sessions online, or in person at my Santa Barbara office, which is ADA accessible. I see clients in English and Spanish, and I bring cultural awareness to every relationship.
