Dorothea Lotze, LMFT

I am a Marriage and Family/Systems Therapist who has a trauma informed and spiritually integrated approach. I am specialized in trauma, narcissistic abuse recovery and fundamentalism recovery. I apply an external and internal family systems approach.

I am originally from Germany, and have lived in the US for 30 years.
I enjoy working with couples and individuals to improve their relationship with Self and with each other. I integrate the erotic and sexual dimension of couple relationships into my couple therapy work and work with couple recovery after infidelity.
I have a holistic body, mind, spirit approach, which shows especially in my work with trauma survivors. I am EMDR trained.

I am a Yoga teacher and Mindfulness Meditation teacher. I am a Spiritual Care provider and educator in the Christian tradition yet am interfaith trained and work with non-religious or non-spiritual clients without any prejudice.

As the mother of adult twin daughters, I am passionate about parenting concerns around ADHD, anxiety and depression.
I work with families to improve their communication and assist them with shifting out of intergenerational trauma and behavior patterns.
I am eating disorder informed and assist clients to improve their relationship with food and their bodies.
I enjoy assisting older clients with finding a holistic well being lifestyle to age joyfully and consciously.
I enjoy working with persons in grief or in transitions (after divorce, becoming a parent, retiring, losing a loved one, changing jobs or changing culture, etc)
I support persons who have immigrated or who are children of immigrants in the process of integrating two or more cultures into their identity as individuals or as families.
I am comfortable working with LBGTQ clients and couples.
I can offer short term solution focused therapy or longer term healing and integration focused therapy.

Personal fun facts: My YorkiePoodle Zoe has been with me for 12.5 years and has listened to thousands of counseling sessions without violating confidentiality or boundaries :-) I am divorced after 24 years of an intercultural/interracial marriage, and am currently in a committed long term relationship. Yin Yoga, walking and meditating are my daily self-care. Nature has become my sacred healing ground.
