About me
The work I do with clients encourages exploration and discussion of the full range of their emotions. I assist clients describe and put words to feelings, including contradictory feelings, feelings that are troubling or threatening, and feelings that they may not initially be able to recognize or acknowledge. Psychodynamic psychotherapy not only relieves symptoms but also offers the possibility to have more fulfilling interpersonal relationships, make more effective use of one’s talents and abilities, maintain a realistically based sense of self-esteem, understand yourself and others in more nuanced and sophisticated ways, and face life’s challenges with greater freedom and flexibility. These goals are achieved by engaging in self-reflection, self-exploration, and self-discovery that takes place in the context of a safe and deeply authentic relationship between therapist and client.
In 2024 I earned a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and became a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I received specialized training in End of Life / Death Doula care and Jungian psychotherapy. I completed my practicum and internship at a community based correctional facility in Northwestern Ohio providing counseling to individuals and couples experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and substance abuse. My experiences there affirmed my belief that people are capable of tremendous change when they develop the skills to make choices that align with their values.
If you grew up in a home where there was abuse, addiction, and violence, I am here to help. Recovery from complex trauma means understanding past experiences you've had while living in the present. Learning techniques that allow you to remain mindful and grounded are ways you can understand you do not need to be "fixed". Instead you can recognize your pain and hurt and give yourself the kindness and acceptance you deserve. Working from a strength-based approach, your healing can be a lifelong journey of self-curiosity, discovery, and compassion. Build a life that is vibrant, fulfilling, and with deep connections to others.
