Dennis Patrick Smith, LPC

Dennis is here to serve y'all in the Dallas/Fort Worth areas. He is an experienced psychodynamic clinical professional counselor. Dennis is most passionate about helping others with trauma, including PTSD, and he is fully trained and experienced in EMDR. Dennis began EMDR training in 2017-2019, [with Dr Adler-Tapia and Dr. Francine Shapiro] and to this day, his belief in the effectiveness of EMDR continues for people with their trauma and distress. Hi, this is Dennis, and a common question is, "Who are some examples of the patient/clients that you have served since beginning this career?"
Clients here have included individual adults, couples, preteens, teens (from all walks of life and backgrounds) including previous-incarcerated clients, various medical professionals, first- responders & their spouse/partner, teachers, business owners, active military and veterans, clergy, clinical directors, lawyers, adolescents with school concerns and/or college/career/life needs, senior citizens, lgbqtia people, sex workers, as well as many individuals wanting help with relationship issues including dating, courtship, marriage, divorce, and other relational issues.
My favorites include trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges. and folks that just feel stuck, or those of you who have been to some other counselor/therapist that has made you feel like you may have actually been reTraumatized from stuff surfacing and yet with no healing.
What to expect?
The way I roll, is that It's often Not easy going to a counselor...and if you are ready to get well, ready to do your part...I will do my very best to help you help yourself get better...versus just a band-aid approach. My approach includes being collaborative and nonjudgmental, and without wasting Your time and hard-earned money. Many clients here have stated in their own words, "you get so real!" Counseling/Therapy is too serious to be anything less.
