About me
Are you looking for a compassionate, supportive, effective partner to help you address what's bothering you? What are you struggling with? I can help you thrive, with proven therapies to help you address the challenges in your life and accomplish your goals with skill, resilience, and zeal. I have been practicing psychotherapy as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker for over 13 years. I provide individual psychotherapy for mental illness and behavioral health issues of women, men, and adolescents, in a safe, supportive, nonjudgmental environment. My special interests are women's problems (including domestic violence, sexual assault, MST), problems of military members, veterans and their families, traumatic stress disorders (such as PTSD), dyslexia and ADHD.
At Out of Disorder, PLLC, I use evidence-based therapies (such as EMDR, CBT, CPT, DBT) to help you acquire new skills and practices, challenge and clarify your beliefs and thoughts about everyday experiences, heal and become more resilient, and even grow while addressing the challenges in your life. My practice specializes in work with current and former military members, veterans and their families. Seniors, women and teens are welcome, as well.
I have worked with active duty military and their families for over 30 years in a variety of roles within the military and in civilian organizations serving the military, including ombudsman, paralegal, advocate, and, for the past 13 years, psychotherapist. I have been married to a Navy Chief, now retired, for the entire time, moved many times on military orders, survived and grown through multiple deployments, and raised a son with successfully treated learning disabilities through it all. Along the way, I have also acquired many years of experience working with women struggling with domestic/intimate partner violence, in multiple roles that include advocacy, paralegal, and psychotherapist. Providing psychotherapy services to those in need of an attentive, accepting listener, a partner in problem-solving, and guide towards more effective management of problems, worries, and hurts is my way of honoring those who have helped me along the way and sharing what I acquired of their wisdom, caring, and generosity.
