About me
I earned my Master’s in Clinical Social Work from NYU in 1989 and since then have been committed to helping people from all walks of life find courage to transform their lives. Whether you are experiencing distress related to your past or present, I utilize creative, non-stressful methods to support you in identifying and being able to use your strengths, enhancing self awareness towards healing so you can lead the life you want, as your best self. I have experience in many therapy schools and techniques, and will work with you to find what we think will work best in order to reach your goals.
I practice from a Person Centered approach, helping people to focus the strengths they aleady have to find their way through life's difficult times. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques including ACT and DBT- learning to focus on what we can control rather than only seeing the negative things. I help people find different ways to look at life and face challenges-learning to let go of ways that have not worked in the past; accepting what is outside of our influence. Making the vital conection between what we think and how we feel. Recognizing that all feelings have a place, and sometimes you have to go through it to get past it. Guiding them to exprience distresses as they occur with more comfort and less overwhem . There are ups and downs as a part of everyday life, being able to cope with emotional distress is key to being able to better find and experience your joy.
