Hi, my name is David Mitchell. I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Michigan with 10 years experience helping clients work through various challenges. I have extensive experience helping individuals with housing challenges, drug and alcohol addiction, families of an addicted person, crisis management, and helping neurodivergent individuals adjust to life challenges. I also have the ability to help clients with common concerns like: various types of anxiety, depression, life changes and life direction concerns. I have extended training in men's issues like: anger, lust, affairs, and pornography use. I have been told by my superiors in my early work settings that I make a good partner for female clients. I have a gentle encouraging style with an ability to clarify complicated issues and build a solid relationship. I have also faired well with working with older adults. My wife tells me I should have been born in a different generation. I relate to the older generations because I value hard work, live by my values, and like to sacrifice for my family and closest friends.

My main passion for my work on Better Help is to help clients integrate their faith into their therapy. As a person who has worked with individuals in really difficult circumstances I know that life can be really challenging and we could all benefit from believing that God cares about our unique circumstances. I became a Christian in my college years and went to seminary twice to find my life direction. I am very happy today that I get to help people work through their mental health challenges and have the opportunity to have those spiritual discussions that sometimes come up in therapy.
