About me
I let you say the f word in therapy if you want to.
I have found that when I write all the appropriate professional information, that tends not to be what people want to know when deciding who they want to divulge their most sensitive thoughts and feelings to. So, I'm going to tell you what I think you might want to know first, put the usual generic information at the bottom, and if you have any other questions, feel free to text me and ask.
I don't care if you cuss in therapy or say whatever unhinged, dark things you need to say, but I will also explain limitations of confidentiality to make sure you know which things would result in some kind of outside intervention. It's probably less than you think. Whoever you are and whatever you are struggling with, I'm a safe person. Even though I do not subscribe to any religion myself, I support your right to practice any religion or none at all and will offer you unbiased, scientifically grounded therapy no matter who you are or what you believe. I am pretty much an open book, so if you need to ask me personal questions in order to decide if you are comfortable telling me about your life, do it. Therapists don't generally push their personal values on people because it's unethical and just not the purpose we serve, but mental health issues caused by political unrest is valid and if you need to rage about the upsetting things happening around the world, country, or state, or if you are confused, upset, or struggling in any way about the things we are going through as a country, those are valid things to work out in therapy if you need to.
I only offer virtual services because I like working from home and not paying for expensive real estate space. I see teens, adults, and pre-teens. My most commonly used types of therapy are person-centered, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, but there are many and I consider therapy to be a creative process wherein multiple types can be used to achieve a person's goals. Every person is like a unique puzzle and we can't all be put together with the same generic pieces. I tend to work with issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship and parenting struggles, women's issues, life transitions, adjustment issues, career struggles, ADHD, autism, and many others. I do accept most insurances, but also accept self-pay or out of network benefits as well.
