About me
I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor and Substance Abuse Counselor who enjoys helping children, adolescents, adults, families, and the LGBTQ population work through life’s challenges and struggles.
Here at Winding Rivers Counseling LLC, we strive to provide a safe space for individuals, couples and families to receive the tools, education, and services for establishing and maintaining healthier connections with oneself and with others.
Life happens and we don’t always know what’s around the next bend. Those experiences can be overwhelming and leave people feeling lost, anxious, hopeless, and alone. Therapy, first and foremost, is a way to relieve that sense of aloneness and form a trusting, collaborative relationship with someone who accepts you just as you are. We approach every client with an open mind and never make any assumptions about your life experiences. Every individual faces unique challenges, and needs to work on themselves at their own pace. Our mission is to empower each individual by guiding them along the journey of personal growth and change.
My name is Danielle Hagedorn. I strive to meet my clients where they are at and work together with them to develop treatment plans that achieve their goals. I believe that therapy is a collaborative effort between the therapist and the client, regardless of the client’s age.
I help clients dealing with trauma, addiction, anxiety, depression, behavioral problems, and angry outbursts. I enjoy working with clients suffering from a variety of personality disorders such as Borderline, Histrionic, Narcissistic, and Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorders. I also offer Christian Counseling to those that are wanting a faith-based perspective in their healing. I have a passion for working with children, adolescents, and college students. Anxiety and depression are real issues that young people face, especially during major life events and transitions. I enjoy providing the tools and support they need to work through their emotions in order to help them succeed in all areas of their lives. In addition, I know that oftentimes parents need extra support and direction as their children and loved ones sort through their struggles. I not only treat the client but also help the family to find resources and skills to assist their child.
I have over 25 years of professional experience, pre and post licensure, working with children, teens, families, and incarcerated individuals. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Services Leadership from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with concentrations in Child and Adolescent Counseling & Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Counseling, from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. During graduate school, I completed a year-long internship at a residential addictions treatment facility for men. I was also selected as a 2017 fellowship recipient for the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) Minority Fellowship Program-Youth in recognition of my continuous service to minority youth. Following graduate school, I provided outpatient counseling and then individual and family counseling at a day treatment facility for children and adolescents at risk for negative outcomes.
I’m licensed as a Professional Counselor and Substance Abuse Counselor in the State of Wisconsin. I’m a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and a National Certified Counselor (NCC-NBCC); trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Play Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); and I use a variety of additional therapeutic models including, but limited to Solution Focused and Person Centered therapies. In my practice, I apply a strengths-based approach for all my clients, as I have found that each client I have worked with has more to offer than they realize. I look forward to working with you!
