About me
Dr. Daniel Lydon is a licensed clinical psychologist who works with older adolescents, young adults, and adults. He specializes in the treatment of anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, ADHD, PTSD, depression, grief, life transitions, relationship concerns, and adjustment to complex medical conditions, including cancer, chronic pain, and other significant health challenges.
Dr. Lydon's approach to therapy is integrative, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based practice. Rather than relying on a single treatment model, he draws from a range of scientifically supported approaches and works closely with each client to develop an individualized treatment plan tailored to their unique needs, goals, strengths, values, and life circumstances.
Dr. Lydon believes that therapy works best when the therapist and client function as a team. While he brings expertise in psychological assessment and treatment, clients bring expertise in their own lives, experiences, and goals. Together, they explore patterns, test new perspectives, and work toward meaningful and lasting change. Whether a client's goals involve reducing symptoms, improving relationships, developing coping skills, or gaining deeper self-understanding, treatment is individualized to help them build a more fulfilling life.
Treatment begins with a comprehensive assessment designed to understand not only the challenges bringing a client to therapy, but also the broader context in which those difficulties occur. Together, Dr. Lydon and his clients explore what is contributing to current struggles, what may be maintaining them, and what changes would be most meaningful.
Dr. Lydon has worked across outpatient, inpatient, and integrated healthcare settings throughout New York, including NYU Langone, Zucker Hillside Hospital, and Nassau University Medical Center.
Known for his grounded and supportive style, Dr. Lydon strives to create a therapeutic environment that is warm, compassionate, and engaging. He also appreciates the thoughtful use of humor, metaphors, and pop-culture references when they help make complex ideas more relatable and memorable.
