About me

Hello, my name is Crystal Portillo I’m a Licensed mental health therapist (LMHC), I received my degree in Forensic Psychology, in Los Angeles, California at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology (2018). During my internship, I worked briefly in the school setting, as well as an inpatient in a mental health facility.
My primary experience for the past three years has been from a partial hospitalization program incorporated as a step-down program from a local mental health hospital. There, I focused on mental health issues with co-occurring substance dependency/addiction and utilized the matrix model, dialectical behavioral therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy approaches. I aim to integrate these constructs alongside a person-centered approach to treatment, as it should never be a one size fits all approach.
Addiction is something many people struggle with. I believe it's crucial to target the mental health components that may contribute to the development of these issues.
Addiction affects multiple parts of one's life-- work, socialization, familial interactions, and so much more. It's important to know no one starts using any substance to become an addict and I want to be there on your journey to living the life you want to live.
