About me
With over 30 years of experience in crisis management and child welfare, I offer person-centered, trauma-informed care for individuals and families. As a woman living with a disability, I am particularly passionate about supporting others who navigate the world through a disability lens. I am a National Certified Counselor committed to providing a safe, affirming, and inclusive environment for all individuals from any cultural background.
Finding a therapist who truly understands the complexities of living with a disability can be a challenge. As a middle-aged woman navigating life with a disability myself, I bring a unique lens to our sessions—one rooted in empathy, shared experience, and the belief that you are the expert on your own life. My goal is to provide a structured, compassionate environment where we translate your experiences into practical tools you can actually use.
My clinical foundation is built on over 30 years of experience in community mental health and within the child welfare/foster care system. I have a lifelong passion for supporting foster children and youth, with specialized experience in helping young adults navigate the high-stakes transition into self-sufficient adulthood. Throughout my career, I have served as a liaison between families, courts, schools, and mental health providers to advocate for the best interests of those I serve.
Whether you are dealing with past trauma, navigating a new diagnosis, or feeling overwhelmed by life’s demands, my approach is always person-centered and non-judgmental. I recognize that many individuals—particularly those in the LGBTQIA+ community—face significant barriers to finding supportive care. I am deeply committed to providing a truly safe, affirming, and inclusive space where your identity is respected and your voice is heard.
I am a National Certified Counselor and TF-CBT trained, specializing in helping you navigate the physiological and emotional impacts of trauma through practical coping skills and de-escalation techniques. Having lived and worked in South Texas for ten years, I also bring a deep appreciation for Hispanic culture and the unique stressors of diverse environments. Together, we will work on managing the overwhelming stress of daily life so you can find the space to breathe and grow.
