About me

I earned a doctorate in counseling psychology from West Virginia University in 2012. I have worked in a variety of settings including an army base, community mental health center, child advocacy and rape crisis center, two university counseling centers, and private practice.

I specialize in trauma recovery as well as in conditions that are often directly or indirectly related to trauma (i.e., stress management, grief/loss, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, disordered eating, addiction, chronic illness). I also have experience treating difficulty with adjustment to life transitions (e.g., helping high school students prepare for common mental health challenges of college), academic/career challenges, relationship/communication problems, and identity formation/concerns.

Are you exhausted from being strong on the outside but disconnected from yourself and/or others on the inside? Do you often feel misunderstood or have trouble communicating with others? Have you lost your joy and peace while feeling trapped by constant survival mode? Do you struggle with always waiting for the other shoe to drop? Do you help everyone handle their problems but are fiercely independent and avoid asking for help? Are you often uncomfortable being vulnerable with someone who expresses the desire to give back and offer assistance? Do you feel too much at times while not feeling enough (or anything at all) at other times?

I work with people like you who struggle with their sense of safety, self-esteem, power/control, trust, and/or relationships. I will integrate different therapeutic approaches to tailor treatment for you. Your goals for treatment help me do this. If you struggle with setting goal(s), I will help you do so in a collaborative manner. I will also calibrate my approach based on your feedback regarding what (and what doesn't) work. We will track progress together.

If you are exhausted from being the strong one, you don’t have to do it alone anymore. Reach out today to schedule a free 15 consultation and let’s explore what it is like to let your guard down in a safe, collaborative, open-minded, non-judgmental, empathic, empowering, respectful, and welcoming space.
