About me
I am an experienced therapist working with a wide variety of issues. I am comfortable working with individuals, children or families.
I have been a therapist for 22 years, in that time I have had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of problems. I work with individuals, children and family issues. I have a great deal of experience with families touched by foster care, parenting difficulties, trauma or secondary trauma. I believe the best therapy is to address your barriers to a happier life. In this way we will work together on a path you feel comfortable to help you.
I have worked in the Des Moines area for the past 10 years on the community mental health crisis team. In that work I have become familiar with crisis management. In these 10 years I have also become very aware of the first responders who are dealing with secondary trauma from their jobs. I am Critical Incident Certified to help manage the initial shock after being involved in a critical incident. I am also very interested in helping individuals who need to process their secondary trauma in a therapy.
I am the mother of 4 and grandmother of 14. I have a great deal practical "shoe leather" experience that comes from living life. I would be very honored to walk alongside you as you move toward a better place.
