About me
Life can be difficult and I am a safe place to come to discuss issues that bring you stress, anxiety and depression without judgment. We will work as a team to get you some coping skills to help with your stress.
Hello, my name is Christina and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor located in Killeen, Texas. I have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology from Drury University. I received my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas A&M University-Central Texas. I also have a certificate in Chemical Dependency and Addiction. I grew up as a military dependant (Army Brat) and later became a military spouse. I am familiar with military culture and the stresses that being in the military can put on those individuals who are serving plus their families.
Growing up in a diverse military culture has helped me to be an open-minded, non-judgmental, compassionate, patient, and trauma-informed therapist. I am a client-centered therapist who utilizes several modalities to offer support and assistance to my clients. I use techniques from brief solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, dialectical behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy. The tools and methods I utilize are unique to you, your needs, and the goals you would like to reach. I also believe that everyone can benefit from counseling because sometimes life just gets too hard and we need a safe space to retreat, relax and regroup. I have worked with many individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction, and trauma. I would love to help you to navigate through your struggles as well.
In our first session together we will get to know one another and begin establishing a therapeutic relationship. I believe it is important to provide a warm, judgment free environment that clients can relax and be themselves in. I also believe relationship building is important for the counseling work to start. I have a positive outlook on life and I enjoy helping others find the positive in their lives. My biggest strengths are listening, being warm, bringing calm, understanding, validation, and empowerment. In addition, I strive to work together to navigate the difficult terrain of your mental health concerns, to reach your goals of well-being.
