About me

My personal and professional motto is the same...Do the inner work. Show up in your life.
If you’re reading this, something in your life has gotten heavier than you’ve been letting on. Maybe the anxiety has started running the schedule, or the marriage has gone quiet in a way that scares you, or you’re the one everyone leans on and there’s no one you lean on. I’ve sat in that chair, personally and professionally, and I know how much it takes to seek help.
I’m Christina Dyer, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with more than 25 years of clinical, coaching, and leadership experience. I work with individuals and couples who are high-functioning on the outside and worn thin on the inside, and who want more than symptom management. They want to understand the pattern they’re stuck in, feel something shift, and build a life that fits who they actually are. They want relief, and they want change.

My style is warm, honest, and direct. I’ll honor what you’re living before I ask anything of you, AND I’ll tell you the truth as I see it, because that’s what moves things. My work is attachment-based and emotion-focused. With individuals, I draw on Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), with CBT as a foundation when anxiety or depression needs a practical first layer. With couples, I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to map the cycle the two of you keep falling into, so you can stop fighting each other and start fighting the pattern. Everything is trauma-informed, and I’ll teach you the neuroscience of what your nervous system is doing, because understanding why your body reacts the way it does takes the shame out of it.
Beginning January 2027, I also offer ketamine-assisted psychotherapy KAP in Illinois in partnership with Journey Clinical, for clients who’ve done the work and are ready for a different kind of treatment journey. It is a safe, open-hearted, and wonderful medicine that helps people find deep, affirmative relief from stuck patterns. Preparation and integration are key to using the medicine. I am your partner throughout the process.
What you can expect from me:
In our first session, we’ll slow down. You’ll tell me your story at your pace; I’ll ask the questions that help us both see the shape of what’s happening, and together we’ll name two or three things you want to be different. You’ll leave knowing what we’re working toward and how we will know it’s working.

I’m a private-pay practice, and that’s a deliberate choice. It means no insurance company decides how many sessions you get or needs a diagnosis on file to approve them. It means your records stay between us, and we set the pace the work actually needs. It also means I hold a small caseload so I can bring my full attention to the people in it.
This work is real work. It asks you to feel things you’ve been managing around and to try new moves in relationships that have run on old ones for years. It’s hard, and it’s possible, and you won’t be doing it alone. I hold space and give grace to your process...
