About me
Life can look perfectly fine from the outside and still feel exhausting on the inside.
I work with teens and adults navigating anxiety, ADHD and executive-function challenges, trauma, grief and loss, neurodivergence, burnout, and major life transitions. Many of my clients are thoughtful, capable people who have spent a long time managing, adapting, and taking care of what needs to be done—while quietly feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected from themselves.
My approach to therapy is collaborative, practical, and deeply individualized. Rather than trying to fit you into a particular formula, I want to understand how you think, what you’ve experienced, the patterns you’ve developed along the way, and what you need now. Together, we can make sense of what’s happening and find approaches that actually work for you.
I’m Christi Kersten, MA, LPC, and I’ve spent more than 20 years working in behavioral health with adolescents, adults, families, and caregivers. My experience began with at-risk youth, children with serious mental health needs, and foster families, and later led to private practice, where I’ve been helping clients navigate complex life experiences since 2011.
I work with teens and adults facing anxiety, ADHD and executive-function challenges, trauma, grief and loss, neurodivergence, burnout, and major life transitions. I’m particularly interested in helping people understand the patterns beneath what they’re experiencing—not simply managing symptoms, but making sense of themselves within the context of their experiences and their lives.
Christian counseling is an important part of my practice. For clients who want it, faith can be thoughtfully integrated into therapy in a way that respects both sound clinical practice and Christian beliefs. You don’t need to separate your faith from the things you’re struggling with, and you also won’t be pressured to incorporate faith into counseling if that isn’t what you’re looking for.
My style is interactive, conversational, and straightforward. More than two decades in this field have taught me that there is rarely a one-size-fits-all explanation—or solution—for what someone is going through. I draw from ACT, CBT, existential and person-centered approaches, trauma-informed care, and neurodiversity-affirming practice, adapting therapy to the person in front of me rather than expecting them to fit a particular model.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before beginning. We’ll start with where you are, understand what’s getting in the way, and work toward changes that make sense for your life.
