About me
My name is Chloe and I am an integrative UK based counsellor and trained to level 5, with 4.5 years of professional work experience. My own lived experiences of difficult family relationships and attachments, abuse and subsequent depression took me on a journey that eventually led to a career in counselling. I get that day-to-day life can be so much harder when you feel overwhelmed by emotions, where you are searching for approval or acceptance, or just want to be heard; my own insights gained through therapy and training have shaped the counsellor I have become and enable me to support clients, with empathy and warmth.
In my time as a Counsellor I have worked with clients facing a range of challenges relating to relationships, attachment, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, sexual and domestic abuse/violence, self esteem, & confidence.
Theories which I draw from include Person-centred (a gentle individual based model where you are the expert of 'you'), Gestalt (focussing on feelings and the here and now,) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (looking at patterns of thoughts and behaviours and their impact).
At the heart of the process will be our relationship: if you feel you are ready to explore whatever is affecting you, I am committed to creating an open and honest space where you can be yourself and where you can bring the happy, resentful, angry, sad, or frustrated parts of you (or any other parts) and not have them judged. For me, a sense of trust and safety is a top priority for the work to be effective. Please feel free to ask if you have any particular ideas of how we can work together creatively or otherwise, or to say if you are uncomfortable. Together we can work out what is best for YOU! It takes courage to seek out help in taking the first steps towards a change. I am here to support you in that journey, and know the hard work that it involves.
Just so you know, I monitor my own practice by attending regular supervision and am committed to my own self-development as specified by BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists). There are times where aspects of sessions will be taken to supervision to monitor and develop practice; however, at no time will any identifiable information be mentioned.
