About me
I am an experienced marriage and family therapist who helps individuals, couples, and families move through anxiety, depression, grief, and relationship pain toward genuine connection.
About
Reaching out for therapy takes courage. Whether you've been carrying something for years or something recent has knocked the ground out from under you, the fact that you're reading this means some part of you is ready for things to be different. I'd like to help.
I'm Chivonne Clairmont, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, AAMFT-Approved Supervisor, and Clinical Fellow, and the founder of Mindful Discovery Therapeutic Solutions. I started this practice in 2017 with one guiding purpose: connecting the disconnected. Disconnection shows up in so many ways from a partner you can't seem to reach anymore, from a family that loves you but doesn't understand you, from a version of yourself you can barely remember. Whatever form it's taken for you, it doesn't have to be permanent.
Who I work with
I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, addiction, and the full range of relationship challenges. With couples, that often means communication that's broken down, intimacy that's faded, or the long, uncertain work of affair recovery. I also work with partners preparing for marriage who want to build something solid before the hard seasons arrive, some of the most meaningful work I do happens before a crisis, not after one.
Many of the people who find me are high-functioning and capable. You may be holding a demanding career, a family, and everyone else's expectations, and doing it well enough that no one has noticed how tired you are. Therapy can be the one place you don't have to hold it together.
How I work
My approach is systemic and transgenerational, which means I'm curious not only about what you're struggling with, but about where those patterns came from. Many of us are living out scripts we never chose beliefs about love, conflict, worth, and safety that we absorbed long before we had words for them. When you can see the pattern clearly, you get to decide whether to keep it.
Alongside that lens, I draw on Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Solution-Focused approaches, and I adjust to fit the person in front of me. Some clients need practical tools for managing panic or intrusive thoughts this week. Others need space to grieve, or to finally say something out loud they've never told anyone. Many need both at different points. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all treatment, and I'll tell you honestly what I think will help.
What you can expect from me: warmth, directness, and no judgment. I'll listen closely, and I'll also ask the questions that get to the heart of things. Therapy with me is collaborative you set the direction, and I bring clinical expertise, structure, and a steady presence to help you get there.
Our practice
Mindful Discovery Therapeutic Solutions is a woman-owned practice, and I'm proud to say we've grown into a team of 16 clinicians since opening our doors in November 2017. That growth matters for one reason: it means we can match you with the right therapist rather than simply the available one. If my style or specialty isn't the best fit for what you need, I'll connect you with a colleague who is. Our clinicians bring a range of backgrounds, specialties, and lived experience, and finding the right fit is one of the strongest predictors of whether therapy works.
Practical details
We see clients in person at our offices in Sunrise/Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Midtown Atlanta, Georgia, and we offer secure telehealth for clients throughout Florida and Georgia as well as for clients living abroad in Europe, Australia, and the Caribbean. Telehealth means therapy can fit around your work, childcare, or travel, without a commute.
We accept more than 20 insurance plans, including Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare, Optum. If you don't see your plan listed, reach out and we'll help you understand your options.
Taking the first step
You don't need to have it all figured out before you call. You don't need the right words, a clear diagnosis, or a tidy explanation of what's wrong. You just need to be willing to start.
If you're ready or even just curious reach out at 305-317-5596 or chivonne@mindfuldiscoveryts.com, and we'll schedule a time to talk about what's going on and whether we're a good fit. That first conversation costs you nothing but a little honesty.
Connection is possible. Let's find your way back to it.
