About me
🌱 Who I Am – A Heart Formed in Salesian Gentleness
You know that friend who listens so well you start wondering if they moonlight as a therapist? Well—I actually do.
I am a Marriage and Family Therapist and a Catholic priest shaped deeply by the spirituality of St. Francis de Sales, the saint of gentleness and the “Doctor of the Heart.” He once wrote, “Nothing is so strong as gentleness, nothing so gentle as real strength.” That line has quietly guided my life and my therapy room.
Alongside my priesthood and a soon-to-be doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy (yes, I collect degrees like some collect stamps), I’ve spent years weaving psychology and spirituality together—not as rivals, but as companions. I believe grace builds on nature. Science illuminates the mind; faith steadies the heart.
If you are looking for support that honors both your humanity and your holiness—your struggles and your sacredness—you’ve found your companion on the journey.
🧠 My Approach – A Spirituality (and Therapy) That Fits Your Life
One of the most refreshing teachings of St. Francis de Sales is this: holiness must fit your state in life. In his Introduction to the Devout Life, he explains that devotion must be practiced differently by a bishop, a soldier, a married woman, a widow, or a servant. In other words—do not try to live the spirituality of a monk if you are raising children. Do not imitate the prayer schedule of a priest if you are a teacher with papers to grade.
If you are a cook, your path to God runs through your kitchen.
If you are a teacher, your holiness blossoms in your classroom.
If you are a parent, your sanctity grows between laundry baskets and bedtime prayers.
Salesian spirituality is not imitation—it is integration.
And the same is true for therapy.
There is no “holy” therapy model that everyone must follow. There is no single psychological formula that fits every personality, story, wound, or vocation. Just as spirituality must suit your lifestyle, therapy must suit your personality, your temperament, your struggles, and your goals.
🌿 Therapy of the Heart – Tailored, Not Forced
St. Francis de Sales gently reminds us, “Be who you are and be that well.”
Therapy, in the Salesian spirit, is about becoming who God already dreamed you to be—not becoming someone else’s version of healthy.
My work is never one-size-fits-all. It is crafted like a well-fitted garment—measured, intentional, and made for your story. Your anxiety is not identical to someone else’s. Your marriage is not a textbook case. Your grief has its own texture. So, your therapy should honor that uniqueness.
Whether you carry:
• past wounds
• relationship gridlock
• anxiety or trauma
• grief or spiritual confusion
I bring evidence-based psychotherapy wrapped in Salesian gentleness.
🌸 Gentle Strength, Not Harsh Fixing
Salesian transformation does not happen through pressure or severity. It unfolds through patient love. As St. Francis de Sales wisely counseled:
“Have patience with all things, but first of all with yourself.”
That line alone changes the atmosphere of therapy.
You do not need to bully yourself into growth.
You do not need to shame yourself into healing.
You do not need to compare your journey with anyone else’s timeline.
Instead, we cultivate an atmosphere that is:
• Gentle but honest
• Reflective but practical
• Prayerful yet psychologically grounded
We will examine patterns—but without condemnation.
We will name wounds—but without defining you by them.
We may sit with tears—but never without hope.
And yes, we may laugh—because Salesian spirituality is joyful. Serious about growth, but never severe.
🌞 Healing That Feels Like Breathing Again
In this approach, therapy is not about forcing change—it is about cooperating with grace and human effort. It is about aligning your psychological tools with your vocation, your personality, and your daily life.
Just as a cook sanctifies meals, and a teacher sanctifies classrooms, you will learn to sanctify your own growth process.
Healing, in the Salesian spirit, should feel like this:
Not tight.
Not rigid.
Not performative.
But spacious.
Gentle.
Like breathing again.
Because the goal is simple—and profoundly Salesian:
To become deeply yourself.
And to become that well.
🎯 My Focus – Healing the Whole Person
I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating emotional, relational, and spiritual crossroads:
• Anxiety and depression
• Trauma and grief
• Spiritual burnout
• Marital conflict
• Identity and vocational discernment
If you’ve ever wondered, “Can I pray and still need therapy?” the Salesian answer is a resounding yes. Grace does not replace growth; it empowers it.
For couples, I help rekindle the grace that first united them. St. Francis de Sales believed love must be renewed daily with tenderness and intentionality. Relationships do not fail from lack of passion alone—but often from lack of gentle understanding.
Salesian therapy invites couples to rediscover what first moved their hearts—and to rebuild connection not through blame, but through empathy.
🗣 My Communication Style – Gentle Strength
Clients often describe me as calm, clear, and comforting—but not afraid to ask the deeper questions. Salesian spirituality avoids both harsh confrontation and passive avoidance. It chooses courageous kindness.
St. Francis de Sales reminds us, “You catch more flies with a spoonful of honey than with a barrel of vinegar.” In therapy, truth is always spoken—but spoken with honey.
I create a space that is:
• Safe, but not stagnant
• Compassionate, yet clinically grounded
• Sacred, but never stiff
I meet you where you are and walk with you—not drag you—toward where you desire to be. And if faith is part of your life, we gently invite God into the room—not as a judge, but as a healer.
✝️ My Journey into Therapy – From Confessional to Consultation Room
It truly began in the confessional.
As a priest, I encountered the raw beauty and brokenness of the human heart. I realized that many souls needed more than spiritual advice; they needed psychological insight. They needed tools for healing attachment wounds, trauma responses, and relational patterns.
So I stepped into the world of therapy.
Since 2013, I’ve completed two master’s degrees and am pursuing a doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy. Along the way, I began developing what I call “Salesian Therapy”—an approach that integrates modern clinical science with the compassionate wisdom of St. Francis de Sales.
For me, therapy is not merely a profession. It is a vocation. A sacred collaboration between grace and growth.
As St. Francis de Sales wrote, “The measure of love is to love without measure.” That is the spirit I strive to bring into every session.
🌟 What to Expect in Our First Session – A Gentle Beginning
No intimidating couches.
No cold clipboards.
No forced vulnerability.
Our first session is about being seen and heard. We will explore:
• What brings you here
• What feels heavy
• What you hope might change
If something urgent is pressing on your heart, we begin there. If you feel unsure where to start, I will guide you gently.
The Salesian path begins not with pressure, but with presence.
By the end of the session, my hope is that you leave feeling:
• A little lighter
• A little clearer
• A little more hopeful
Because in the Salesian vision, healing is not about becoming someone else—it is about returning, patiently and tenderly, to who you truly are.
And as St. Francis de Sales assures us:
“Do not lose courage in considering your own imperfections but instantly set about remedying them.”
That is what we will do together.
