About me
I began work as a therapist in Seattle over 25 years ago, working with families and young children. Today I generally work with adults ages 22-100, and I am certified as a Geriatric Mental Health Specialist in Washington State. In addition, I have over a decade of experience providing services to adults in King County who are living in hoarded or high clutter environments. I have consulted with and been trained by leading Hoarding Disorder experts across the country, and I have presented to groups of providers on the disorder and what we can do to help. With all this experience, I sincerely believe that it is possible for people who hoard (note: person first language indicates that we use “person who hoards”, not “hoarder) to live in safe organized homes that they enjoy!
I tend to work from a collaborative mindset, working alongside clients as they find the solutions that will heal, soothe and sustain themselves. With a background in research and clinical trials, using Evidence-based treatments is important to me. I use interventions such as CBT, DBT, ACT and motivational interviewing. One of the things I love about psychotherapy is that we get to be creative in how we use these tools to develop a plan of action that can guide us towards health.
First, though, we need to get to get to know each other!
If possible, I like to hold our first sessions in person at my office on First Hill in Seattle. Being in the same physical space is best for getting to know someone. Sometimes, though, its just not practical, and those times we just do our best. I look forward to hearing what brought you here as well as what you hope to get out of therapy. I strive to be warm and supportive, allowing you to share your unique story without fear or judgement.
