About me
Hello, My name is Cate. I've been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2001. I have my Master's in Counseling from Webster University and have 20 years of experience in a variety of settings from a private hospital to community mental health center to a substance use treatment center. What I found was people have an instinct towards wellness when they are treated with dignity and respect. Each of us has a story to tell and generally want to move towards a positive outcome.
It takes strength and determination to make change in one's life. It's been an important lesson that I've learned to honor the tools that have a brought a person to the point where that person is now and I'll meet you where you are and together look at new ways to achieve the goals you wish to accomplish, increase functioning and explore new perspectives in a safe, non-judgmental environment, with the understanding that you direct the experience.
I use a client-centered approach, I'm versed in cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and narrative therapy. I work with teens and adults dealing with depression, stress, anxiety, substance use, life changes, grief issues, bipolar depression, ADHD, parenting, conflict/anger and relationship issues.
I would be privileged to work with you.
