About me

Life is full of ups and downs, and having a safe place to talk (or play!) through the challenges you are facing is a game changer. Hi! I'm Cassie, and I am a Licensed Counselor who is passionate about helping kids (4yo+), teens, and adults thrive. I strive to create a space where my clients feel seen and supported and where they can begin to find the beauty and strength within themselves and their stories even amidst pain and struggle.

With children, I incorporate play, sand tray, art, movement, and more to help process through their challenges and big feelings. As Garry Landreth says "Play is the language of children, and toys are their words," so it is natural for children to reveal patterns and themes in their play as they work to understand and solve their problems. I also like to incorporate parents and caregivers when possible by offering parent consultation sessions. While at times I do teach children skills in their session, I also spend lots of time allowing them to work through their issues through play. This can provide rich insight to what your child is feeling and what they need, which I can communicate to you in the caregiver consultation sessions. Play also supports children with developing positive self esteem, stress management, social skills, and problem solving.

With teens and adults, I use a variety of modalities to address issues such as anxiety, depression, self harm, suicidal ideation, family/relationship issues, grief and trauma. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) are two modalities I use to help individuals find new ways to manage negative thought patterns and ineffective behaviors. I also co-lead a teen DBT group where teens can learn new skills and harness the power of belonging and camaraderie to aid in their progress. To support those working through trauma, I use Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), parts work, and sand tray to help bring wholeness and healing to parts that once felt broken and at war with one another.

I have a special interest in supporting children, teens and adults who have family members struggling with addiction and/or mental illness, helping them navigate how to support their loved one while incorporating boundaries that maintain their own serenity. I incorporate principles of 12 Step programs in my work with individuals struggling with addiction or codependency.

Humans thrive with connection. When we face pain and challenges in our life we often feel alone in our suffering. As we begin to build a relationship where you feel seen and supported, healing begins. I view it as a great gift and honor to walk with you on your journey towards healing.
