Carolyn KAY Holmes, LMFT

I am a licensed Therapist, and I work primarily with Adults, both individually and Couples. I have had the privilege of working with varied and diverse groups, and I have a rich background of experience. I was an RN, and worked in Acute Psychiatry for 8 years, and became fascinated with the many ways we humans struggle to cope. I became the Direcctor of a Drug/Alcohol Treatment Program, and fell in love with Addicts and Co-Dependents. Knowing I always wanted to Be of Service, I went back to Graduate School, and received my Master's in Couseling Psychology, and then my License as a Marriage/Family Therapist. I facilitated Women's groups for 12 years, and I taught in college classes. I have worked with Military families, CEOs, and inmates.. I have had a wonderful professional life -and I'm not finished yet!

My cIients have descibed me as warm, and very easy to talk with, but quite direct. I have had many influences on my approach to counseling. During my years as an RN on Acute Psych Services, I worked mostly with Psychiatrists, and a Psychodynamic approach. My graduate Program was strongly focused on Systems theory. The 10 years I worked in Drug/Alcohol Treatment looked at honesty, responsibility and physical/emotional/spiritual recovery. I started a Family Program there. I learned a lot about "loving confrontation" Women's isssues and grief work have been important to me. I have been on several EAP Panels (employee Assistance Program). I experienced all of the influences I described, and ended up with an eclectic approach to clients. Mostly, I try to meet patients where they are, and this has ended up being very Individualized Treatment.
I had a full Private Practice and a beautiful office in Silicon Valley until the Pandemic. I had to close my office, and do Telephonic Counseling. I continue to do Teletherapy exclusively now. I do not participate in Social Media.
I take insurance, but I'm only on a few panels. My fee is $140/session. I will do a sliding scale if needed.
