About me
I am an experienced LMFT counselor as well as an addiction counselor. After 30 years of counseling I have been able to come alongside those that are hurting and offer hope.
I joined the Charis team in 2018, bringing over 20 years of counseling experience with me. Because I was trained in the medical field, I am able to implement the information I learned there into my work.
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist who worked for many years as a family therapist in a chemical dependency agency where I focused on family issues. I am also licensed as a Chemical Dependency Counselor (MCAP). In my training I gained experience in treating a large variety of conditions including: mental health issues, brain injury, fetal alcohol, and personal areas including life direction, goal setting, self-esteem and life scripting. Due to working in a addiction treatment setting I was able to gain expertise in a variety of addictions, substance abuse, codependency, trauma, sexual abuse and anxiety and depression. Recently, I added EMDR certification to my skill base.
I have been married for over 45 years and have two children. I enjoy helping families and couples resolve issues and find healing. I enjoy working with couples to help them understand the elements of a good relationship and gain the tools necessary to have a better family life. I am trained in the Prepare and Enrich tool so that couples can improve their relationship or prepare more effectively for a marriage relationship. I travel to Africa to teach on marriage and family at a Master’s level university.
I understand that each client has a unique perspective and path to healing. I attempt to connect well with my clients, and from that trusting-relationship walk with them on that journey.
