About me
I help adults navigate life's transitions, strengthen relationships, understand themselves more deeply, and move toward meaningful change with greater confidence and self-compassion.
I believe everyone has a story worth understanding, and sometimes we need a little help making sense of where we've been, where we are, and where we want to go.
Life can be complicated. Relationships change, unexpected challenges arise, and sometimes we find ourselves feeling stuck in patterns we don't fully understand. You might be someone who spends a great deal of time taking care of others while struggling to make room for yourself. Maybe you're navigating a major life transition, questioning your sense of identity, feeling overwhelmed by emotions, or realizing that the ways you've learned to cope aren't working as well as they once did.
Whatever brings you to therapy, you don't have to have everything figured out before you begin.
### My Approach to Therapy
My approach is warm, down-to-earth, collaborative, and rooted in the belief that meaningful change doesn't require becoming someone entirely different. Often, it begins with understanding yourself more deeply, recognizing patterns that no longer serve you, and learning to approach yourself with greater compassion.
I work with adults experiencing anxiety, relationship difficulties, emotional overwhelm, trauma, self-worth challenges, and significant life transitions. I also enjoy helping people explore the connections between their past experiences, current patterns, and the choices they want to make moving forward.
My work is integrative and trauma-informed, drawing from a variety of therapeutic approaches to meet the unique needs of each person. I am fully trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and incorporate Internal Family Systems (IFS) parts work, Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also draw from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, attachment-based approaches, and somatic and Polyvagal-informed practices.
While these approaches provide valuable tools, I don't believe therapy should be dictated by a particular technique or follow a one-size-fits-all formula. I believe in understanding the whole person—their experiences, relationships, emotional patterns, strengths, and individual needs—and choosing approaches that support meaningful, sustainable change.
For some clients, that means processing painful experiences through EMDR. For others, it involves understanding different parts of themselves, exploring the stories they've carried throughout their lives, learning to regulate difficult emotions, or developing healthier ways of relating to themselves and others. Often, our work includes a combination of these approaches.
I believe therapy should offer more than a place to talk. While feeling heard and understood is important, I also want you to leave our sessions with greater insight and practical strategies you can use in everyday life.
Sometimes our work will involve exploring deeper emotional experiences or long-standing patterns. Other times, we'll focus on concrete tools for managing difficult emotions, communicating more effectively, establishing healthier boundaries, or approaching challenging situations differently.
We'll work together to find the balance that best supports you.
### Being. Bridging. Becoming.
At Brije the Gap Therapy, this philosophy guides the way I approach our work together.
**Being** is about meeting yourself where you are, without judgment or pressure to have everything figured out. It's about recognizing that your experiences, emotions, and struggles deserve understanding rather than criticism.
**Bridging** is about making connections—between your past and present, your thoughts and emotions, and where you are today and where you'd like to be. It's also about developing the awareness, skills, and confidence to navigate the space between.
**Becoming** is about growth, possibility, and creating a life that feels more aligned with who you are and what matters to you. It isn't about perfection or reaching some imaginary finish line. It's about allowing yourself to evolve, one meaningful step at a time.
### What You Can Expect
Therapy with me is a conversation, not a lecture. I'll listen, ask questions, offer perspectives, and sometimes gently challenge you to look at things differently. I value honesty, curiosity, authenticity, and humor, and I believe there is room for all of these in the therapeutic process.
You won't be expected to have the right answers, say the right things, or show up as anything other than yourself. There is no perfect way to do therapy, and progress doesn't always happen in a straight line.
My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable exploring difficult things while also developing the tools and confidence to approach life in new ways. Whether we're working through past experiences, navigating present challenges, or exploring possibilities for the future, our work will be guided by your needs, your goals, and what matters most to you.
You don't have to know exactly where you're going to begin.
We can figure out the next steps together.
