About me
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in trauma integration and support for mothers who are moving through difficult pregnancies, neonatal loss, or postpartum challenges.
I am so glad that you are here! In addition to being a therapist, I am also a mother to two little ones, an amateur athlete, and a lover of traveling.
My life experiences have led me to where I am today. Before becoming a mother, I served overseas in West and Northern Africa in community development and clinical settings. When I moved back to the United States, I continued to support international communities through my work with refugees. Becoming a mother in particular gave me new insight and drive to help mothers like myself who moved through difficult emotional challenges after birth. Additionally I have worked in maternal mental health in hospital and community settings that have motivated me to find the best ways to help mothers move through life changes and address their own trauma as they adjust to motherhood.
I love working in therapy because I get to have the opportunity to see people journey from spaces of guilt, shame, anger and pain to a life that they maybe had never imagined was possible for them. My clients come to me because something bad happened to them in life and they notice that the impact of what happened in the past is clouding how they experience the present moment. I use a variety of techniques to help my clients meet the parts of themselves or their past that are painful and find a way to integrate these parts or stories into their life narrative.
Trauma does not need to define us, just like a diagnosis is not the total sum of us. I believe that you are a whole person that has parts of you that need attention and support. I use Internal Family Systems, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy to help you safely address the issues that are causing you pain. All of these techniques are evidence based practices that have been proven to have wonderful outcomes. As a Certified Practitioner of Integrative Medicine in therapy, I am also always looking at ways that we can address other systems in your life to help you heal. This may look like examining you nutrition or your exercise or sleep habits. By taking a holistic view of your life, I believe that you will achieve your goals faster and begin to notice changes in your life that are lasting.
I know that finding the right fit a therapist is crucial and that combing through listings can be time consuming and challenging. That's why I am happy to offer a complimentary 30 minute session to see if you feel that therapy with me might be helpful. Additionally while I do not accept insurance, I do partner with Float which is a payment and billing system that helps to lower the cost of therapy through your out of network benefits.
I hope I get to meet you. :)
