About me
I am a trauma-informed therapist specializing in Functional Neurological Disorder, PNES, and trauma — helping adults understand their nervous system as a protector, not a problem.
I’m Brian Evans, a Licensed Professional Counselor, EMDR-Certified Therapist, and Certified Hypnotherapist with over a decade of experience working with some of the most complex and misunderstood conditions in mental health. I founded FND Healing Center, PLLC because I believed — and still believe — that people living with Functional Neurological Disorder, Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures, and trauma deserve more than a diagnosis and a referral to someone who has never heard of either condition. They deserve a clinician who has made it their life’s work to understand what’s actually happening in the nervous system and why.
That’s what I do here.
What I Specialize In
My primary focus is Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures (PNES) — conditions that sit at the intersection of neurology and trauma, and that are among the most underserved in the entire mental health field. If you’ve been told your symptoms are “all in your head,” bounced between specialists who couldn’t agree on what was wrong, or left a neurologist’s office with a diagnosis but no roadmap for what comes next — you’ve found the right place.
I also work extensively with PTSD, Complex PTSD, anxiety, and co-occurring disorders, because the truth is that trauma lives underneath the vast majority of what brings people through my virtual door. Whether your nervous system is expressing itself through seizure-like episodes, tremors, weakness, dissociation, or the quieter weight of hypervigilance and emotional dysregulation — I know how to meet you where you are.
How I Work
My clinical approach is grounded in what I call Neuroprotective Reframe Therapy — a framework I developed through years of working with FND and trauma populations that repositions the nervous system not as something broken or betraying you, but as something that has been working extraordinarily hard to keep you safe. When we shift from “why is my body failing me” to “what has my nervous system been trying to protect me from,” something remarkable begins to happen. The symptoms don’t disappear overnight — but the relationship you have with them changes fundamentally, and that shift is where healing actually begins.
Within that framework I draw on EMDR, clinical hypnotherapy, psychoeducation, and somatic-informed approaches to help clients build genuine safety in their bodies — not just coping strategies that manage symptoms from the outside, but a deep internal sense that the threat has passed and it’s finally okay to come home to themselves.
I’m also a strong believer that education is treatment. Many of my clients arrive having spent years searching for answers, collecting diagnoses, and wondering if anyone truly understands what they’re living with. A significant part of my work involves helping people understand the neuroscience behind their experience in plain language — because when you finally understand why your nervous system has been responding the way it has, the shame lifts, the self-blame softens, and the actual work of healing becomes possible.
Groups and Intensives
In addition to individual therapy, FND Healing Center offers psychoeducation groups, intensives, and specialized programming designed specifically for people navigating FND, PNES, trauma, and nervous system dysregulation. These offerings are available nationally through telehealth and are designed to create community and connection for people who have often felt profoundly alone in their experience. If you’ve ever sat in a waiting room surrounded by people who couldn’t possibly understand what you’re going through — our groups were built for exactly that loneliness.
Current group offerings include the Whispers of Your Nervous System series, Reclaiming Your Story, and the Wisdom of Your Nervous System — each designed to meet clients at different stages of their healing journey with warmth, clinical depth, and a healthy dose of humor, because healing doesn’t have to be humorless to be profound.
Who I Work With
I work with adults 18 and older navigating FND, PNES, PTSD, Complex PTSD, anxiety, dissociative experiences, and co-occurring conditions. I currently offer telehealth services in Arizona, Minnesota, Ohio, and Louisiana — and I’m actively expanding to serve clients in additional states.
If you’re a neurologist, physician, or healthcare provider looking for a trusted specialty referral partner for your FND or PNES patients, I welcome those conversations. One of the things I’m most passionate about is building genuine collaborative relationships with the medical providers who are already doing the hard work of diagnosing these conditions — because what happens after the diagnosis matters just as much as the diagnosis itself.
I’m neurodivergent myself, which means I understand firsthand what it’s like to experience the world in a way that doesn’t always fit neatly into the boxes others have prepared for you. That experience shapes how I show up for every client — with curiosity rather than assumption, and with a deep respect for the complexity of every person’s story.
If you’ve read this far, something probably resonated. I’d love to hear from you.
