About me
You are the solution, not the problem.
Real change happens through understanding and healing, not judgment and willpower.
Often, when we are hurting or our relationships are strained, we start to lose trust in ourselves. We might even begin to believe we aren't worthy of happiness. I am here to remind you that healing from past hurts, lifting heavy emotional burdens, and repairing key relationships are all entirely possible, and the power to do so already exists within you.
Together, we will explore both your present and your past in a safe, supportive environment. I believe there is always a good reason for the things we do, even when the outcomes aren't what we want. By understanding why certain patterns make sense, we can gently begin to adopt new, healthier responses.
My role is to walk alongside you, providing the support, resources, and tools you need to find your unique path to happiness. You always remain in control of your journey—you only make the changes you want to make, exactly when you are ready to make them.
Who was I before becoming a therapist?
I bring a unique, seasoned perspective to my practice, shaped by a lifetime of diverse experiences. I grew up in a large family in California, where I developed a deep love for music, food, the ocean, and spending time with family & friends. I met my wife in college, and we have been navigating life together ever since.
For 25 years, I built a highly successful career in the corporate world as a small business executive and startup founder. But life has a way of shifting our priorities. A period of profound personal challenge, including a cancer diagnosis and the loss of both my parents in a very short time, changed my perspective completely. Success and financial drive were no longer enough; I needed a deeper purpose.
During this transitional time, I began volunteering as an advocate at a local recovery center, providing emotional support to survivors during their most vulnerable moments. While my heart broke for the circumstances that brought people there, I discovered a profound sense of purpose in the deep connections I formed with those assault victims and survivors I served. Hearing hundreds of survivor stories fundamentally changed how I viewed life and what I wanted to do with mine.
I realized that whether I had two years left to live or twenty, I wanted to dedicate all my energy to helping people in need. I left my corporate career behind, eventually becoming the Director of the Rape center, Chair of the Sexual Assault Response Team for all of Salt Lake County, and ultimately went on to earn my Master's of Social Work at Utah State University so I could work directly with clients as a therapist.
Why work with me?
When you sit down with me, you are sitting with someone who has navigated the complexities of a long-term marriage, raised a family, experienced the high-pressure corporate world, and weathered profound personal grief and illness. I bring this rich life experience, along with my professional training, into every session.
I look forward to hearing your story and helping you find your way forward.
