About me
Bette Smyth, PH.D., LPC
Life is unpredictable and can feel overwhelming, even scary. We need skills to embrace life’s challenges as invitations to self-discovery and personal growth.
My 35-year work history in crisis intervention has taught me to create an interactive environment where thoughts, emotions, and experiences can be shared without fear of judgment. I am research-oriented and practice evidence-based therapeutic techniques. My approach includes integrative modalities, such as cognitive behavioral, mindfulness, and spiritual growth strategies. Learning new ways to relate to yourself and others can enable you to face each day with courage, resilience, and even joy.
I have worked in a variety of venues including correctional institutions, government crisis agencies, emergency rooms, and hotline call centers. I have guided individuals, couples, and families to conquer depression, anxiety, isolation, intrusive thoughts and emotions and end-of-life issues. My clients have enriched my insight, my compassion, and my ability to listen with an open heart.
I’d love to hear your story. I’d be honored.
