About me
I’m a trauma-informed therapist helping children, teens, adults, and couples heal, better understand themselves, and build healthier relationships.
Hi, I’m Bernave Vega, LPC, NCC. I’m a Mexican American, queer therapist and doctoral candidate in Counselor Education & Supervision. I believe therapy should be a place where you can show up as your full self—without judgment and without feeling like you have to have everything figured out.
My work is trauma-informed and tailored to the person in front of me. I have specialized training in TF-CBT for children and teens who have experienced trauma and EMDR for adults. I also work with men navigating emotional and identity concerns, individuals within the LGBTQIA+ community, and couples wanting to better understand their patterns and strengthen their relationships.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and integrative. I draw from CBT, DBT, psychodynamic approaches, and other evidence-based practices while recognizing that therapy is more than learning coping skills. We can explore where patterns come from, make sense of difficult experiences, and work toward meaningful change.
As a member of both the Mexican American and LGBTQIA+ communities, providing culturally responsive and affirming care is especially important to me. Whether you’re dealing with trauma, relationships, identity, difficult emotions, or simply feeling stuck, you don’t have to figure it all out alone. We can start wherever you are.
