About me
Greetings to all- I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas with 8 years of experience. It is my goal to provide the support you need as you heal from the obstacles and challenges of life. Our work together will focus on developing a fulfilling vision for your life going forward. I use evidence-based clinical approaches to best help my clients to achieve their personal goals based on their own unique vision for themselves and their own experiences.
I work with a wide range of life difficulties; I work with anxiety, depression, trauma, life stress, career and life changes, grief, goal setting and accomplishment, anger management, chronic pain, addictions, self image issues, and developing life purpose. I utilize an approach that pays special attention to the unique experiences of each individual, and I tailor the evidence-based interventions to the person's unique background and needs. My practice emphasizes the whole person; it’s important to balance the different parts of the human experience to encourage growth and wellness. I also work with my clients to identify additional factors that could be impacting their mental health. My experience in the mental health field includes serving the homeless, community mental health services, counseling in a university context, working with recurrent mental illness and addiction, nonprofit counseling, assisting injured workers with chronic pain in a multidisciplinary clinical context, and case management.
I have worked in both counseling and educational contexts, and I have taught English as a second language overseas. I am a published author of a work of literature regarding the crisis in American education, and I am currently working on a second written work. I have a wide range of interests; I climbed my first 6000m peak in 2013. I have continued climbing and practicing mountaineering since then. Counseling is much like climbing in many ways, as it can sometimes be challenging, but view from the top when the climb is finished is so rewarding.
It is an honor to have you take the time to read my profile, and I am excited to assist you. I offer a free consultation to make sure that you have a chance to discuss any questions or concerns.
