About me
I help adolescents and adults struggling with anxiety, ADHD, trauma, perfectionism, and relationship difficulties understand what’s keeping them stuck and make meaningful changes in their lives.
You may be doing well at work or school, managing responsibilities, and keeping up with everyone else’s expectations, yet still feel anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck. Maybe you spend a lot of time overthinking, struggle to get started on things despite knowing what needs to be done, or find yourself repeating patterns in relationships that you wish you could change. Sometimes you understand exactly what’s happening but still don’t know how to do things differently.
I’m Atekeh Sadat, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and founder of Serena Counseling PLLC. I work with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety and panic, ADHD and executive functioning difficulties, trauma, depression, perfectionism, procrastination, burnout, self-criticism, relationship difficulties, and life transitions.
My approach is warm, collaborative, and active. I believe therapy should help you better understand yourself while also giving you practical ways to manage challenges and make changes in your everyday life. We may explore how past experiences have shaped your current responses, identify patterns that no longer serve you, and develop new ways of responding to difficult thoughts, emotions, and situations.
I use a combination of approaches depending on your needs, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness, and attachment-based interventions. I am also Certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (C-DBT).
My clinical experience includes extensive work in university counseling, where I have supported individuals dealing with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, ADHD, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, academic and career stress, and significant emotional distress. I also have experience working with survivors of interpersonal violence and individuals navigating difficult family experiences.
I recognize that family, culture, and life experiences can shape how we understand ourselves and the challenges we face. I offer therapy in English and Farsi (Persian) and welcome clients from diverse backgrounds.
You don’t need to know exactly what to say or where to begin. We can start with what’s been difficult lately and work together to understand what needs to change.
I offer in-person therapy in Frisco, Texas, and online therapy throughout Texas.
