About me
I am a licensed mental health counselor dedicated to helping others rebuild strengths to deal with the stressors in life.
I have been been working in the mental health field for over 27 years. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor for the state of Florida, spending a majority of my career working with families in crisis. My primary modality of treatment is Reality Therapy. Other modalities include, solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing, trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TFCBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) with close attention to your strengths. Keeping in mind that it is our hardships that increase our strengths. Unfortunately, sometimes we get stuck in the struggle and lose sight of which direction to go. This is where I come in. I will come along side you to look at what you want and what you have been doing to progress. Then we will look at the effectiveness of that behavior and plans to change that behavior to one that works for you. While we may look into your past, our focus will be in the here and now.
My hope is to build a mutual relationship where we are able to be 100% open with one another. In order for therapy to make a difference, it has to be with teamwork between the client and therapist. This is a relationship that I cherish and value more than any in my many years of counseling. It allows us to look at difficult areas of your life and ask questions such as, “what did you learn about yourself?”. You see, the hope is that as we take this journey you will come to know more about you. This includes your strengths and yes, your flaws. It is about feeling great about who we are and knowing that our imperfections are a part of us but do not define who we are. This is a point of self actualization and acceptance of what you can and cannot change.
As a mental health professional the most insightful thing I have learned is that everybody is different with their own thoughts and desires and it is okay. However, we are all the same in that most people really do want to feel a strong sense of confidence, self esteem and in the end self actualization. The better you feel about you, the greater the chance of improving your circumstances. So, whether you might be struggling with depression, anxiety, work related issues, relationships, trauma or simply overwhelmed and maybe even unsure, there is a place here for you.
I look forward to meeting you whether virtually or in person if local.
